"Gaspar" the club | Giannis Efthymiadis

In a central location of the urban complex of Arta, some challenges were set regarding the creation of a modern club, which were met through innovative and smart design.

From the first stages of the design, basic characteristics of the concept were the proper light management, as it is a key feature concerning the atmosphere of such spaces, as well as the creation of different levels in order to increase the functionality of the long and narrow space and achieve good visual contact from anywhere within the place.

The elongated floor plan of the club was chosen in order to be enhanced by the special synthesis of the roof, which consists of two cylindrical luminaries in copper colour. The synthesis connects the two narrow sides of the place, creating at the same time two poles at the edges. The first pole concerns the music coverage and the DJ’s area, while the other regards the private table area. Both raised areas, standing out of the rest of the place obtaining their own design approach. The DJ’s area is defined by an impressive piece of furniture which reminds of an old chest of drawers and a background of metallic luminaries, whose polished surface creates a unique play of light. On the opposite side, classic decoration combined with modern elements was chosen.

The bar, as the main feature of such places, acquired its own identity and meaning in the design of the place. Avoiding intense lines, it follows a simple and classic style which is supplemented and defined by pop references, through the bright orange colour tones, quilted fabrics, ceiling luminaries and a mirror ball (by Tom Dixon house).

The design dialogue continues on the opposite side with a smooth solution, through an asymmetric, geometric grid which is combined with the intense linearity of the external appearance, connecting the interior with the exterior.

The theme of the space is completed by the careful use of materials, textures and colours. Timeless and familiar materials used to surfaces and furniture offer luxury through a contemporary perspective. The widespread use of wood in combination with black marble and gold and bronze surfaces interact with leather and velvet textiles, while the choice of neutral and earth tones leave the design details, the special hand-made constructions and the intense orange, yellow and blue hues to hold a key role in the formation of the character of this space.

Regarding the exterior facade, the strict vertical lines of dark metallic elements create a clean and intense design result, while the transparency of the opening adds the necessary balance through the creative contrast between the empty and the full.
