LABORATORI SIENA BIOTECH | General Planning

Tema principale del progetto è il rapporto tra nuova architettura e città storica, ai cui bordi sorge l’edificio. Esso si articola su tre livelli fuori terra basati su una doppia piastra: quella inferiore dedicata alla rimessa delle auto e ad alcuni locali accessori; quella superiore destinata alla ricerca e ad attività di laboratori, un auditorium per 200 persone e ampi locali delle centrali tecnologiche. Al piano terra si trovano gli uffici della direzione e amministrazione, con relativi spazi accessori per riunioni, archivi, attività di servizio. Dai tre gruppi dei collegamenti verticali si accede alla caffetteria, ad una sala riunioni ed alla terrazza destinata a momenti di relax e incontro. L’impianto strutturale, estremamente semplice, fa sì che ogni porzione del fabbricato abbia la massima duttilità. La facciata ventilata è costituita da elementi in cotto applicati ad una sovrastruttura metallica, fissata alle strutture dell’edificio, in modo da tenerla staccata da essa e creare un cuscino d’aria che consente la ventilazione naturale. I prospetti presentano superfici vetrate variabili tali da ridurre gli apporti solari gratuiti nella stagione estiva e favorirli in quella invernale. L’edificio ospita la sede della Società farmaceutica Siena Biotech S.p.a.

General Planning ha seguito le seguenti attività: Progetto Definitivo, Progetto Esecutivo, Architettura, Strutture e Impianti, Allestimenti e Arredi (uffici e laboratori).

The main theme of the project is the relationship between new architecture and historical city, to whose edges the building stands. It is based on three levels above ground based on a double plate: the lower one dedicated to the garage and to some ancillary rooms; the upper one for research and laboratory activities, an auditorium for 200 people and large rooms in the technological plants. On the ground floor there are the offices of the management and administration, with related accessory spaces for meetings, archives, service activities. From the three groups of vertical connections one can access the cafeteria, a meeting room and the terrace for moments of relaxation and meeting. The extremely simple structural system means that every part of the building has maximum flexibility. The ventilated façade consists of terracotta elements applied to a metal superstructure, fixed to the building structures, in order to keep it detached from it and create an air cushion that allows natural ventilation. The elevations have variable glazed surfaces that reduce the free solar contributions in the summer season and favor them in the winter one. The building houses the headquarters of the pharmaceutical company Siena Biotech S.p.a.
