The kindergarten “Snowhite”, is inspired by the famous fairy tale by the Brothers Grimm and focuses on the importance of the relationship that spaces have for the purpose of teaching. Dynamic surfaces, free from obstructions of separation, the use of tactile materials, and the presence of iridescent images which allow the children to always have new cognitive experiences.

In addition the green space around the structure, there is also a small teaching garden in the heart of the building.

The access points, appropriately positioned, define two continuous roads that cross the structure to maintain the visual relationship between inside and outside. This has the effect of connecting the kindergarten, the school and the park opposite.

Each environment, optimally oriented and sout-east facing, is expandable towards the surrounding garden, presenting a relevance to the green space which is independently usable.

The structure has been conceived in cross-laminate timber (CLT) wood for its structural, sustainable and prefabrication qualities. The repeated CLT sections have been developed with RUBNER Haus and their variation consider the optimum use of the wood without any waste. The intent is to have a fast assemble on-site by prefabricating all the elements in the pre-construction phase.

The organic and fluid layout is to enhance the maternal feeling and warmth to the children making it easy and pleasant to experience.

The project has also been published at the website:Portfolio Z14 , the website of the Z14 Srl study Alessandro Ridolfi, with whom NOS Design collaborated with on the design.
