Guizhou – Mountain Forest Hotel | Stefano Boeri Architetti

Located in the 10 thousand peaks area, the project is inside a masterplan of 400 acres, in the Wanfeng Valley,  in Guizhou, China, recently listed by the New York Times as one of the best destinations in 2016.

The mountain project has 31,200 m2, and 250 rooms designed for the Hong Kong based Cachet Hotel Group. The interior design will be the result of a collaboration with the local artist Simon Ma. The new hotel includes facilities such as a gym, a lounge, a vip area, a bar, a restaurant  and a conference room. The concept comes from the unique natural scenery of the 10 thousand peaks valley, its original topography and ecosystem.  The design aims to restore the landscape by reconstructing a former existing hill that was flattened a few years ago, therefore emulating the past and present hills.

Symbiosis is the goal. Sustainability not only depends on energy conservation, but also on a wider biodiversity.  The real sustainability is the symbiosis between man, architecture and nature . Following the first prototype in Milan, the subsequent in Lausanne, the Vertical Forest is being continuously consolidated as a model for a sustainable urbanization.

Situato nella Valle dei 10mila picchi, il progetto si inserisce all’interno di un masterplan di 400 acri, nella valle di Wanfeng, a Guizhou, Cina, recentemente nominata dal New York Times come una delle migliori destinazioni nel 2016.

Il progetto prevede uno sviluppo di 31.200 m2 e 250 camere progettate per il Cachet Hotel Group con sede a Hong Kong. Il design degli interni sarà realizzato in collaborazione con l’artista locale Simon Ma. Il nuovo hotel include servizi come palestra, lounge, area VIP, bar, ristorante e sala conferenze. L’idea di progetto si ispira allo scenario naturale della Valle di 10mila Picchi, alla sua topografia originaria e all’ecosistema locale. Il progetto mira a ripristinare il paesaggio originale, ricostruendo una ex collina esistente che era stata demolita anni fa, richiamando così il valore del luogo passato e presente.

La simbiosi è l’obiettivo del progetto. La sostenibilità non dipende esclusivamente dal risparmio energetico, ma soprattutto dalla più ampia accezione di biodiversità: la simbiosi tra uomo, architettura e natura è, infatti, la vera sostenibilità. Dopo il prototipo a Milano e l’esempio di Losanna, il Bosco Verticale si consolida come un modello per l’urbanizzazione sostenibile.
