Orange Crystal Hotel

The designer poured his heart and time and finished the lobby of Orange crystal, the finally completed part of this hotel. Considering it has a superior geographical position of facing the street, but thinking through overall from the building scale, its spatial depth lacks slightly. Dealing with the relationship between inside and outside must be very cautious. The designer chose to weaken the boundaries and extract the elements of nature, trying to make every effort to keep the space in a state of balance of both openness and closeness. The purpose of overlaying the space interface repeatedly is to create a freeze-frame of pastoral image. In order to bring people more spatial penetration sense when they enter into and make more interesting, another one small ”obstacle” 3was added at the porch. The setting of double porch organized people gathering on the spatial axis of the landscape from both sides around, just like forming a quite Chinese style of partition wall, which also elongated the path experience of the space, meanwhile played a very positive role on heat preservation and energy saving.

The lobby retained the original function, in addition, it also functioned as a cozy “living room” with warm temperature and emotion; when the evening comes along, this area tends to turn into a small-scale hall for art and music events. It’s much accurate with definition of culture salon relatively.

In the design process, the designer especially paid more attention on thinking from the perspective of geometry, such as visualizing the reality and cutting the inherent shape of the space, using the gradient of image and density with the continuation of thinking and the gradient of empty and entity to open space’s ductility. Abstract layer cascade folds formed the orange tree that coinciding with the hotel brand concept. The elements extends upward, but still keeps the horizontal flow. Rigorous pace composition with subtle lighting, the original sculpture work of artists and the implantation of painting and drawings, which finally created a work with a variety of artistic means meanwhile returned to realistic experience. In terms of Materials, the designer used perforated aluminum panel, transparent piano lacquer to balance environmental color and space lighting. An soft and gentle environment making people feel so peaceful and calm was found. Ultimately, space narrative was highlighted and the building’s function had receded behind the art, as if each soul is truly autonomous throb.
