A stone’s throw from Milan’s Cathedral, the programme provides the restoration of an existing building, made of two blocks of different ages, that develops around a central courtyard that has still a considerable historical value.

The first block, which is dating back to the 18th century, is facing Via Pantano and is listed as an historical building by the Italian Ministry of Culture.

The project includes redesigning the internal layout of this wing with the creation of 18 new, high quality apartments and addresses the renovation of the façades, by clearing all the added layers that have changed in a decisive manner the original architectural design.

The second block is dating back to the seventies and is currently occupied by offices that will be redesigned by a
general re-fitting of the workplace floors, a new lobby and a relaxing area facing the inner courtyard and by a new glazed structure on the roof. This new volume will host a buvette, a lounge area, top executive offices, and a roof garden.

Great attention has been paid to internal and external common spaces to create workplaces that can inspire. The goal is to design offices where people want to work and contribute to recruitment, productivity and well-being of employees.

The environmental design looks after the workstation layouts, space allocations, air quality, acoustics and lighting, is in line with the latest directives of energy content and is characterized by an innovative use of a Building Management System.
