C181 is the new housing located in Paseo de las Castellana (Madrid) designed by Zooco Studio.
It is the comprehensive reform of 230 m2, in which the change is total.
The client expresses to us the importance of the kitchen for him.
That is why the kitchen space is considered as "heart" and center of the house, generating the circulation and all the spaces around it.
The house has two terraces that are also decisive in the design. The living room turns to one of them and the kitchen opens to the other, generating between them an interstitial space of enjoyment.
The central volume of the kitchen in addition to the above mentioned serves as a container for the facilities and laundry room leaving the rest free.
Its vertical walls are generating different elevations to the uses of its perimeter. At the entrance becomes a mirror to dematerialize and generate amplitude. In the living room presents a series of sliding oak doors, which generate a "changing elevation" according to the time of day. In the circulation of the rooms it becomes a white wall full of wardrobes. In the toilet it becomes a blind front of oak.
The spaces have just articulated leaving the original metallic structure, which serves as reference in the separation of the living room and dining room and the space of enjoyment in the south terrace.
As a singular element it is worth mentioning a structure of vertical slats that complete in oak the elevation of the hall and create a private space of work.

C181 es la nueva vivienda situada en el madrileño Paseo de las Castellana creada por Zooco Estudio.
Se trata de la reforma integral de 230 m2, en el que el cambio es total.
El cliente nos expresa la importancia que tiene para él la cocina.
Por ello se plantea el espacio de cocina como “corazón” y centro de la casa, generando la circulación y todos los espacios a su alrededor.
La vivienda tiene dos terrazas que también son determinantes en el diseño. El salón vuelca a una de ellas y la cocina se abre a la otra, generando entre ambos un espacio intersticial de disfrute.
El volumen central de la cocina además de lo anteriormente comentado sirve como contenedor de las instalaciones y cuarto de lavado dejando libre el resto.
Sus paramentos verticales van generando diferentes alzados a los usos de su perímetro.
En la entrada se convierte en espejo para desmaterializarse y generar amplitud.
En el salón presenta una seria de puertas correderas de roble, que generan un “alzado cambiante” según el momento del día.
En la circulación de las habitaciones se convierte en un paramento blanco repleto de armarios.
En el aseo se convierte en un frente ciego de madera de roble.
Los espacios se acaban de articular dejando vista la estructura metálica original, que nos sirve de referencia en la separación del salón y el comedor y el espacio de disfrute en la terraza sur.
Como elemento singular cabe comentar una estructura de lamas verticales orientables que completan en roble el alzado del salón y crean un espacio semiprivado de trabajo.
La gama cromática de la vivienda es muy sencilla, blanco, roble y gris en la estructura y las carpinterías metálicas.
El proyecto se completa con la elección de un mobiliario atemporal, en la que resaltan piezas clásicas de Coderch o Los Eames.
