As one of the country’s largest universities in terms of student numbers and physical infrastructure,  UiTM has certainly come of age since its humble beginnings in 1956 when it started as RIDA [Rural & Industrial Development Authority] Training Centre, and inspired by Dato’ Onn Jaafar with only 50 students. Fast forward to the present and this project is one of UiTM’s 33 campus locations nationwide offering up to 500 programmes from foundation to doctorate levels for some 180,000 students.

The Tapah site provided us with 1,100 acres of undulating Kinta silica sandy terrain about 8 km west of Tapah town. From the brief to accommodate academic facilities for 5,000 students, with 50% full-board student housing, we only needed to carve 76 acres for phase 1 of this satellite university of UiTM.
