FORESTA FOUNDATION BUILDING | FPA - Franzina+Partners Architettura

The building designed for the Foresta Foundation, a fertility clinic, deals with the task of creating spaces with very different functions:
- at ground floor a clinic and several laboratories: the space has been divided to guarantee the maximun efficiency at the clinic, with a dedicated reception and waiting room for the patients and offices for the clerks;
- from first to third floor small apartments for the patients: aprtaments are dedicated to couples who are treated in the fertility clinic. Each one is divided into a living room plus a small kitchen and a bedroom with a private bathroom. Every apartment is studied to give the maximum comfort for the patients and their partnes even for long stay. Apartments’ floors have a different entrance at groundfloor;
- at the attic a wide conference room for the foundation research projects hosts up to 50 guests and a private studio for the founder is located at the upper level.
The building rises in front of an important street and there was the necessity of giving more privacy to the clinic patients.
A second skin has been added to the main facades: a white steal structure holds on grey shading stripes, giving privacy and allowing the view at the same time.
These stripes are cutted in correspondence with windows and terraces to increase the facade permeability.
The second skin structure does not follow the main facade volume and it moves autonomously creating a new irregular volume playing with the main facade regular geometry.
