The designer on the Angles designer pendant light

Every design is a new adventure. When I have a new idea I like to continually redesign it and then I really go to town. I believe wholeheartedly in the power of repetition and seek a way to connect the same shapes until something new appears. This light is the result of these endeavours. A design in which the whole is much more than the sum of its parts; that looks simple but definitely isn't easy to make. I like it when a design conveys an apparent simplicity but also immediately raises the question: 'how does this actually work?'

The starting point for this pendant light was the materials and the technique. These are inextricably linked to the final design. The biggest challenge for me in the Angles light design lay in finding the connections and the relationship between the parts. Eventually I arrived at half-timber joints and the classic proportions of the golden ratio. In design language I used the basic palette of every designer: the dot, the line, the circle, the triangle and the square. If you look closely, you can see there are several in this design.

The Angles lamp can be hung in two ways. As a straight cross and diagonally. Each way has its own individual appearance.
