CITTA' ALESSANDRINA | Valeriano Ballini
CENTRO CULTURALE INTEGRATO Rome / Italy / 2007
9
The project comes from the desire to create an architecture which is deeply rooted in the context and has the capacity to create an alive and functional city district within a run down area, like the Alessandrino,
The complex is divided into two volumes which, by exploiting the drop of the land, shape the morphology of the place and strengthen the relationship between the architectural complex and the site .
On one side the building that overlooks the park and houses sport activities is characterized by transparent glass, which gives natural and uniform light to the spaces and creates a strong link between the inside and the outside to emphasize the recreational benefits that characterize both.
On the other side the building that follows the pedestrian and cycle path and that is the entrance to the cultural integrated center is characterized by the materiality of corten steel.
Inside we have spaces suited to cultural and educational activities and outside you find yourself in front of a rock that rises in the direction of the ruins of the Roman Empire.
