The main conceptual definition for the interior design for the "Space for the Architects (CAU-RS)", a 195,79m² area situated on the ground floor of "La Defense Building", intends to create a contemporary space, stimulate intense activity, predicting the different possibility of use. It proposes a totally integrated but clearly zoned open space, in which different functions will be disposed in boxes.

The concept of eliminating the conventional logic of compartimentation aims economy and efficacy, exploring the amplitude of space. The idea is also based on the reproduction of the urban logic, in a smaller scale: open x closed spaces, circulate x stop, wide x narrow… simulating an architectonic promenade, exploring constructive elements and materiality.

The entrance hallway will conduct the users through a first box, a tunnel, where the reception area is located. After reaching the reception thru a narrow tunnel, the open space will contain different boxes, where the various uses of the program are located. Each of the boxes will receive an image of a map, showing the urban evolution of the city of Porto Alegre since 1839,

The selection of colors and graphic types was done according to the visual identity of CAU/RS, and the solution also included support elements to display artwork or projects. The specification of these articulated exhibition panels considered contemporary design, strength and versatility to adapt different circumstances and programmatic situations. It also considered the possibility of modulation, stacking, foreseeing changes that would not compromise the homogeneity and the lightness of the ambience of the space.

Furniture, accessories and complements follow the same concept used on the architecture design: local industrialized furniture, finishing, material, products and equipments, whenever possible, favoring the regional industry.

All the choices were made believing that the space the architects will use should prove their many duties, ranging from furniture design to urban plans of the city (from all to particular).
