The challenge in this project was to create five separate houses for the parents and their four sons and their families within the
relatively limited width of the land, while making the best use of the space and the view that is overlooking the “King Mariot” Lake.

-Creating five separate housing units for residential purposes, while giving each house it’s own landscape
space and offering unobstructed view to the “King Mariot” lake for all the houses.
-Maintaining the equality when it comes to the four secondary houses (the sons houses) while
giving the main house (the parents house) uniquity in terms of space, position and view.
-Emphasizing the social values through creating a strong connection between all the units.
-Meeting all client’s requirements .
-Minimizing the visual boundaries between inside and outside.
-Connecting the landscape visually with the surrounding environment.
-Reaching a solution that provides minimal energy consumption, having light filled spaces while being
sheltered from the heat.
-Having the buildings constructed for the long term use of its owners.
-Providing privacy and security to the occupants.
-Creating a design that is contemporary while being elegant

Taking full advantage of the sun light:
In order to minimize the energy consumption through
having light filled spaces and also to have the interior in
contact with the exterior through allowing more of the
landscape to be captured into the visual frame,
the panoramic windows became a primary element in
design.
But it was very important to take Egypt’s hot weather in
consideration when creating such big windows, luckily the
directions of the rays of the sun at noon (when it’s hot the
most) were opposite to the direction of the windows that
are overlooking the view and the architectural shading
blocks keep the sun rays from reaching the internal spaces
and the terraces as well, mean while it allows the daylight
to stream down and it does not work as a visual obstacle.

Making best use of the land is
always an appealing sales point to
buyers and investors, from a
market point of view this project
isn’t necessarily a multi-family
house even though it was built for
that purpose but it can be sold for
unrelated families as a small
compound that contains:
-5 Houses (with separate landscapes)
-Swimming pool
-Parking lot
-Security (including surveillance
cameras on the gates)
-Magnificat view to the “King
mariot” lake for all the houses
