SPLASH - light falls into the water | Viviana Valente
Project work in urban lighting for Darsena in Milan Milan / Italy
We are in Milan where the Darsena is near to Porta Genova and it is the fitting of the Naviglio Grande and Naviglio Pavese .The official costruction started in 1603 and was therefore the main port of one of the most important transport routes for river commerce. After years of neglect, the Darsena is returned to Milan thanks to Expo 2015.
During the day it is a multifunctional place(with the market and the pedestrian path), where people can play sport or simply can walk. During the night it is lively place also because is really near to Navigli that are famous for the nightlife.
There is a good general lighting also with new techonlogy because it is a very new project but we noticed that there isn’t external lighting on the bridge so it desapperes in the dark, there isn’t light on the banks of the wooden walkway so it is very dangerous in the night, and there isn’t perception of a unit pedestrian route.
In our project we want to recall the ancient port through the concepts of connection, interaction and dynamism and we want to transfer this atmosphere in our new square through the interaction with water-light and people. SPLASH is the name of our project, an acronym in which there are all the keywords that distinguished it.These words are SQUARE, PORT, LIGHT, ACCESSES, SOCIETY and H20.
