Master’s thesis " Post Expo" Milan / 2016
My Master’s thesis explored the main research question of “How to preserve the tangible and intangible heritage of a major worldwide event?” I used Expo 2015, which took place in Milan, as a case study to explore my research question: I proposed to re-utilise a Bio-Mediterranean cluster pavilion at the Expo site to create a centre aimed to resurrect the “can-do” culture and spirit of innovation in Italy. My goals were not only to exploit the existing structure of the cluster, but also to carry over the intangible heritage of Expo being a major hub for the exchange of different cultures. Hence, given the structure of the cluster consisting of four sections, I selected four crafting skills that are in danger of being forgotten yet important to the Italian culture. In doing so, the intangible heritage of Expo would then be transferred to the centre to preserve and promote the “can-do” culture of Italy.
