Project brief: A contemporary residence on a colonial city
We were asked to design a modern house in the suburbs of 16th century city of Antigua Guatemala.
The client, while not wishing for a colonial house, does not want to feel completely alien to the city. We proposed to relate to the city with the use of materials, but specifically with the use of a reinterpreted colonial patio.
The house then becomes a modern day reinterpretation of a colonial house.
