The Cube House | Simone Serra

The Cube House is a project of a residential building, which as the name suggests, has a cube shape with the edge of 8.6 m. It is divided into three floors: on the ground and first foor there are the living space and the kitchen, on second floor there is the sleeping area.
The 1F is an overhanging volume on GF which therefore is a double-height space. The floor of the overhanging volume is made of aluminium perforated sheets, this material in addition to the glass walls of the 1st floor, creates a visual connection between the two floors.
The main entrance on the East side is narrow and in between stair and the wall of the kitchen but it is double-height characterized by skylights and clerestory windows to bring daylight inside.
The stairs are made of concrete bearing wall and cantilever wooden steps. The windows facing the West and East side are protected by sunlight trough sunscreen louvers.
The outdoor balconies are made of steel beams and perforated plate as floor, to create a color contrast with the pure white volume of the house.

La Cube House è un progetto di un edificio residenziale, che come suggerisce il nome è ottenuto all'interno di un cubo con lo spigolo di 8,6 m. E' costituito da tre livelli, il PT ospita la zona giorno, il 1P la zona relax, il 2P la zona notte.
Il 1P è un volume aggettante sul PT il quale presenta quindi una doppia altezza. La struttura portante dell'aggetto è realizzata con delle travi in acciaio su cui poggia un lamierino forato che funge da pavimento, il quale grazie anche alle pareti vetrate che chiudono il piano intermedio, crea una connessione visiva tra il PT e il 1P.
Particolarmente suggestivo è l'ingresso principale sul lato Est, dove uno spazio ristretto in pianta si sviluppa a tutta altezza e riceve luce diretta grazie alla superficie vetrata infissa sul muro perimetrale e al lucernario posto sulla copertura in continuità con questa. All'angolo Nord Ovest è presente la scala, costituita da un setto portante in cemento armato e gradini in legno a sbalzo. I balconi esterni sono realizzati con travi in acciaio e lamierino forato e creano un voluto contrasto con il volume puro e bianco dell'edificio.
