The architectural approach of the project is to utilize the site's strong relationship between Miami’s lush Coconut Grove neighborhood with the existing undisturbed context, locally sourced materials, and the constant blue sky. Thus, a dialogue is created between the street level and the slab.

A new type of spatiality is proposed in this area. The lifted structure relies on non-habitable functions and standard structural elements: the foundation, pilings, pool, and patios.

The base is raised substantially above current grade to accommodate the threat of hurricanes, storm surges, and rising sea levels; leaving the lower portion emerging from the ground. This element expresses strength and links the structure to the existing landscape. It is the visual root of the building from which the rest of the building is supported and emerged.
