Residential new construction Los Angeles / United States / 2017
A 9,000sf ground-up residence on the ridge of a steep hillside property in Benedict Canyon. To maximize the view and simultaneously reduce the mass of the three-story structure, one story and a portion of the ground floor is submerged into the existing grade, leaving a dividing ridge/retaining wall that simultaneously acts as separation between public and private and as balancing bar for the seemingly hovering 2nd floor. The L-shaped floor plan allows zoning without room enclosures and generates an open, generous 270degree view of the hillsides of beverly hills on the ground floor.
