Project Introduction： The gallery is located in a commercial building in a residential estate. The second floor, which has long and narrow stairs connecting it to the entrance and the street, is the main floor space. The interior of the premise is an irregular 300 square metres with structural columns and walls. The limited height of interior,complex structures and pipelines, call for the need to design the premise with soft wall involvement so as to integrate the original structure of the building. This can be achieved using the right lighting, scale and material variety, consequently, creating a complete and efficient display of the environment's atmosphere.

The purpose of the design:  A 6-meter high white steel wall replaced the previous glass facade. Consequently, it created a new entrance and boosting the appearance of the gallery. Exhibition halls have a cabin abstract image and a soft curved corner blurred boundary of the walls and the edge of the ground to increase visual space. The uncovered, structural pipe at the top of the exhibition hall reveals the height of the ceiling. There also are a series of service including the tea room, stairs, downstage and toilets, all decorated with the oak veneer package.

As you walk in the gallery, the visual feeling continuously changes from the colour of the wood to white and from light to shadow. The design aims at creating a pure background in a confused reality. Not only do the paintings depict the rich historical background but also inspires people to appreciate the art form behind it.
