The competition aimed to generate proposals to give a new use to the actual Mexico City airport, since a new one will be constructed near it.  The area has a total of 746 acres on the limits of the city.  The options are infinite.

Our approach is:

JUST ADD WATER

We must regain the lake that we have been trying to erase.  We have been fighting against nature, instead of being with nature. The lake can be part of our lives.  Life starts from water, as our civilization has always been connected to lakes and rivers.

Let us bring agriculture to the city, inside its borders, just where we live. We can recover the old tradition of chinampas, linked to the lakes, to harvest what we need to eat.  Bring our daily lives in contact with what is basic to us, with the growth of plants, be part of the process of growing what we eat.  Harvest what we need right where we live. Let us see how plants and flowers grow, as they give us our food.

Farming in site can avoid the transportation of fruits, vegetables, flowers and grains from far away. In this new scheme we can include high tech planting buildings and energy farms to become more energy self-sufficient.

A new approach to the limit of the city, the city to the lake, no more infinite buildings that just demand more land.  Let´s connect one of the largest cities of the world to the lake.  Parks, forests, plazas, schools, universities, offices, low and high rise residential buildings, will share the views of the reclaimed water city border.
