Seven Dreamers Umeda Labo | Masaki Moritani
Laboratory and gallery Osaka / Japan / 2015
In 2010, spacecraft "Hayabusa" (lit. Peregrine Falcon) made its return to Japan. Part of its components were supplied by Super Resin Inc., pioneer in the production of fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP) and carbon fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRP). Since now, these high-tech materials have been used for both space and national defense equipment. Utilizing the same technology, Seven Dreamers Laboratories Inc. manifactures space-quality golf shafts, analyzing swing angles, shaft rigidity, bending and torsional rigidity, factors that change accordingly to the single golf player. Beautiful and designed for high performance, the shafts are like jewels, delivered to golfers fully custom-made.
Umeda Labo, gallery and laboratory, is Seven Dreamers' first store in Kansai. It is located in the north of Osaka City, inside Building No.2 (dai-ni-biru) next to Umeda Station. In order to maximize the inner height of the store, we exposed the existing ceiling and reached a ceiling height of 4.3m. Commercial surface is 225 square meters. Entering the store, finitures are changing between stone, wood and textile. As they procede clients are welcomed by a space that helps creating new relations. The store has two hitting areas, where clients' swing can be measured in order to create carbon space-quality golf shafts.
