In 2010, spacecraft "Hayabusa" (lit. Peregrine Falcon) made its return to Japan. Part of its components were supplied by Super Resin Inc., pioneer in the production of fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP) and carbon fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRP). Since now, these high-tech materials have been used for both space and national defense equipment. Utilizing the same technology, Seven Dreamers Laboratories Inc. manifactures space-quality golf shafts, analyzing swing angles, shaft rigidity, bending and torsional rigidity, factors that change accordingly to the single golf player. Beautiful and designed for high performance, the shafts are like jewels, delivered to golfers fully custom-made.

Shibakoen Labo is Seven Dreamers’ research laboratory. The triangular-shaped plan includes the reception, just inside the entrance, and the hitting area. Here, the swing of the client is analyzed using cutting-edge measurement devices. "It's not possible to produce things that haven't been measured," told me an engineer when the design started. It is said that, in space, even "zero thermal expansion" can be achieved with high precision. To say it in other words, even if it’s possible to achieve a precision under 10-6/K, it is not possible to certify something that can’t be measured. Investigating the science, there’s a world that seems a Zen dialogue. The stairs leading to the reception of the head office on the second floor are made of high-tech CFRP. The ceiling has been all removed, in order to expose the structure as much as possible, while floor is covered with mortar. Store interiors are finished with paint and concrete, in order to combine with the black color of CFRP.
