Seven Dreamers Ginza Gallery | Masaki Moritani

In 2010, spacecraft "Hayabusa" (lit. Peregrine Falcon) made its return to Japan. Part of its components were supplied by Super Resin Inc., pioneer in the production of fiber-reinforced polymers (FRP) and carbon fiber-reinforced polymers (CFRP). Since now, these high-tech materials have been used for both space and national defense equipment. Utilizing the same technology, Seven Dreamers Laboratories Inc. manifactures space-quality golf shafts, analyzing swing angles, shaft rigidity, bending and torsional rigidity, factors that change accordingly to the single golf player. Beautiful and designed for high performance, the shafts are like jewels, delivered to golfers fully custom-made.

Ginza Gallery is Seven Dreamers’ flagship store. A display made with CFRP blocks, that emphasize its volume, exhibits golf-clubs as they were jewels. Originally designed entrance door, table and chairs are made with CFRP too. The store, 26 square meters wide, is divided in two zones. The first one is more unusual and presents simultaneously shafts and CFRP: its charm is transmitted by the contrast between the two construction materials, stone and metal. The second one is where the client is received: floor and wall covered with fabric materialize its welcoming spirit. Arrayed before a curved glass surface, CFRP shafts can be looked from near and touched. CFRP material properties, like lightweight and high stiffness, has permitted to use it without many corrections. With this refined space in the area of Ginza, we wanted to physically communicate the sensation of high-quality shafts. We did it through the skills of Japanese carpentry, a reason of pride in front of the world.
