Ocean Cottage is a renovation project that converted a 1979 duplex into a single family home and paid homage to its prestigious beachside location.

Jamison Architects gave Ocean Cottage a new lease on life taking two tired, dark and irregular planned existing 3 bedroom units and transforming them into one large family home comprising of 5 bedrooms, a new family room and private guest quarters. The new home is inviting, bright, fresh and functional.

The most notable external feature of the existing duplex building was the pitched roof which leant itself perfectly to the beachside cottage feel that the clients desired. The external façade, new carport and front yard used screening devices, materials and colours that enhanced its beachside aesthetic.

A new open planned kitchen, living and dining area with the restored original fireplace has brought a new heart to the home. The windows throughout were replaced and either enlarged or reconfigured to bring more natural light into the interior spaces and give greater natural cross-ventilation from natural sea-breezes.
