Known around the world, The Ivy has been synonymous with style and status for almost a century and the quintessential West End establishment’s new look encapsulates those much-loved features that made it famous.

From the original stained-glass windows to the focus on the best of British art, those elements which were the essence of The Ivy’s past interior remain. Whilst bringing the restaurant into the twenty-first century, a breathtaking central bar and elegant colour palette reinvigorate the space.

In keeping with The Ivy’s focus on homegrown artistic talent, the new design will continue the tradition of installing commissions by a combination of renowned British artists including Tracey Emin, Peter Blake and Damien Hirst; as well as a range of pieces by emerging names from the country’s art scene.

Creating a sense of drama, the stylish central bar is an elegant addition to The Ivy. Built in coral hued onyx and surrounded by hand-hammered brass tiles, the stone topped bar opens up the restaurant space and allows guests to sip cocktails whilst soaking up the ambience. Every design detail around the bar has been considered, with columns wrapped in mirror, bespoke lamps finished with glass shades in a Lalique design and statement bar stools upholstered in red leather and pink mohair.

The main area showcases one of London’s most sophisticated and intimate dining rooms, as simple wood panelling with brass detailing compliments the seating composed of mohair and leather chairs in varying shades of classic “Ivy” green, alongside additional seats upholstered in sumptuous red leather.

The mood across this room will be seductive and glamorous as the coffered ceiling is gently illuminated with bespoke antique brass as well as glass and mirrored chandeliers; all complemented by individual brass table lamps complete with ruched silk shades.

For those seeking optimum exclusivity, the private dining room has been equipped with its own bespoke bar, creating a space in which guests can enjoy drinks before sitting down to a more intimate party. Adding a sense of British eccentricity, the colourful feature floral carpet will frame an eclectic space, as a mixture of high level banquettes clad in mohair will be joined by different shaped poseur tables and bespoke ivory leather bar stools.

Reaffirming The Ivy’s status as a culinary hotspot, Executive Chef Gary Lee has created a new menu comprising some recognisable Ivy staples as well as new dishes with notable international influences, namely the cuisines of Southern Europe and Asia.
