Arabian Ranches “Old Entrance”, transformation of an existing landscape

BOTANICAL GARDEN - THE OASIS

From formal to educational

After having served as the main entrance and being a welcoming point for visitors in the early years of the development of Arabian Ranches, the Old entrance area well deserved a second life.

Once again the area will invite visitors, however this time not to stop briefly for formalities but to stay for a while, relax and learn more about the natural environment and especially plants and trees used in the landscaped areas of Emaar. Using the current landscape as bases and respecting the existing trees, around 10,000 m2 of the landscape on both sides of the guardhouse will be transformed in a small botanical garden.

The botanical garden will feature some of the landscape types that can be found in the UAE. Themed from desert to oasis, the wadi that meanders
away and merges with the access road forms the transition between these two landscapes. Every landscape type has it’s own specific plants species and displays throughout the area enable visitors to learn more about these plants as well as others wildlife that can be seen and/or heard.

The old guardhouse and adjacent courtyard serves as central part, with the feel of being in an oasis, looking at the various fruit trees planted under the canopy of the palms, one can relax and enjoy the beauty of the landscape around.
