This 733 square meters single family house in Monterrey, Mexico, is located on a hardly sloping site. The highest side is on the south-west, on the “calle de Hermiosilla”, where there is the main entrance, and is strictly related to the neighborhood. The north-east side is the lowest, from where can be admired a wide panorama to the whole city of Monterrey. The project starts from the site: a closed front on south-west, a completely opened one to the north-east. So there will be more privacy to the neighborhood side and more sight on the valley. This will be a climatic advantage too, because the house will be more protected from the hot mexican sun. In fact small windows and deep shelters are the peculiar architectonic elements in the south-west elevation, full height galss windows on the north-west elevation.
The client wanted to have the whole house on one single floor, with an indoor swimming pool on a lower floor, that could become outdoor opening some glass wall.
The idea was to treat the ground as a stone quarry, on which the white stereometric house was floating. The swimming pool was thought as a small residual rainwater lake among the quarry stone blocks.
The outside space on the south-west side is a part of the swimming pool ambient when the glass walls are opened.
