Table with legs and shelf support in solid.Spacers of the table in extruded aluminium veneer, with aluminium inserts. Plan 10mm tempered glass, beveled edge.The table is removable to facilitate the transport and packaging. The legs are joined, via specially designed grafts, to the aluminium spacers. Once the structure is fixed and is stable, is fixed on the glass. The structure can be lengthened and shortened depending on the needs.You can then get to have a plan that varies in lenght from 1,6m t 3m.The legs are available in four different finishes: walnut, black walnut, oak and elm. The whole table is oil finished. It was important for me to work with an artisan.I could finally propose an object that would exploit the characteristics of the material to the full. First of all I wanted a light structure. Nothing more than what was ncessary should have been used. Then it had to be easy to disassemble. As the whole project, saving the materials and respecting the environment is essential. Even the packaging had its own role. I think that designing whilst thinking about the consequencesof the project on our surrounding, is one of the fundamental principles of the work of a designer. Once the project has bee chosen, many attempts and changes have been made. It was what I was really looking for to improve the product. Until the final version of Atlante arrived.And during the many discussion about the product, considering the manual work to finish and control the project and the technology used to do so, one of the best definitionthat I have ever heardof was born: technological craftsmanship

Tavolo con gambe e reggipiani in massello.Distanziali del tavolo in estruso di alluminio impiallacciati, con inserti in alluminio. Piano di 10mm in vetro temperato, bisellato sul bordo.Il tavolo è smontabile per favorire il trasporto e l'imballaggio. Le gambe vengono unite, tramite innesti appositamente studiati, ai distanziali in alluminio.Una volta che la struttura è fissata ed è stabile, viene fissato il piano in vetro. La struttura può essere allungata e accorciata a seconda delle esigenze. Si può arrivare quindi ad avere un piano che varia in lunghezza dai 1,6m a 3m.
Le gambe vengono proposte in quattro diverse essenze: noce, noce canaletto, rovere e olmo. Tutto il tavolo è finito ad olio. Era importante per me poter lavorare con un artigiano. Potevo finalmente proporre un oggetto che sfruttasse al massimo le caratteristiche del materiale. Per prima cosa volevo una struttura leggera. Non doveva essere utilizzato nulla di più di ciò che era necessario. Poi doveva poter essere smontabile. Come per tutto il progetto, il risparmio dei materiali e il rispetto per l’ambiente è fondamentale. Anche l’imballo aveva quindi un suo ruolo. Credo che progettare pensando alle conseguenze che il proprio progetto ha su ciò che ci sta intorno, è uno dei cardini per il lavoro di un progettista.
Una volta che il progetto è stato scelto sono state fatte molte prove, si sono fatte tante modifiche. Era quello che veramente cercavo per migliorare il prodotto. Finché non è arrivata la versione definitiva di Atlante. E nelle tante discussioni che si sono avute sul prodotto, guardando il lavoro manuale per finire e controllare il progetto e la tecnologia utilizzata per farlo, è nata una delle migliori definizioni che abbia mai sentito: artigianato tecnologico.
