Dental surgery Leipziger 14 | Ester Bruzkus Architekten
Berlin / Germany / 2013
The main premise in designing the practice at Leipziger Platz 14 was to create a dental practice that does not look like a dental practice.
The foyer is dominated by materials such as American walnut, Pietra Grey marble, bronze toned metallic surfaces and seamless industrial flooring. The purist formal language is defined by a clear spatial structure of discrete volumes that impart a pleasant lightness throughout. Translucent doorways, recessed into niches, allow daylight to flow through to the reception area.
The waiting room feels more like a hotel lounge than a dental surgery, with full height bookshelves and comfortable armchairs. A feeling of relaxation is created throughout; patients are also made to feel comfortable in the consulting rooms. Medical equipment is carefully concealed behind handle-free cabinets of white Corian. Walls clad in chestnut ensure a calming environment and harmoniously extend the material canon of the reception area. Set in front of a chestnut wall under soft indirect lighting - even the dentist’s chair looks inviting.
