The aim of the project, located in Ravenna’s old town centre, is to give a new placement to the full collection of volumes belonging to the diocese of Ravenna.

The project will enrich the city with a new library and archive with a consultation room, a newspaper library, a double height hall for the most ancient and precious volumes, and various offices; overall with a total capacity amount of 100’000 volumes.

The intervention offered the occasion for the requalification of the ex-cinema “ Roma”. The great and introverted volume of the movie theatre  has been changed into a big “container” for its entire height. The building’s view from the city remains almost the same, with a design approach that aims to preserve the simple and regular facades, well integrated in the urban context, and renowned among the citizens.
