The time and the use is the main demand of the project: the building has to absorb a great variety of functions. The first floor, level in which you can access through the public staircase, it is conceive to develop many activities, from a leisure space to a second housing or an office space.

In the ground floor you can find the main access and the garage, with a little working and storage space. In the upper levels we set the rest of the housing. Looking for intimacy the bedrooms and more private rooms are located in the second floor; the common spaces and day spaces are in the third and fourth floor looking for daylight and relating them with the outside.

On account of the original building was an edification of ground floor plus one, we use the existing slabs and we grew up to three levels above, then to proceed to an ampliation-reform. To grow up in height we built a steel structure piercing the existing slabs in order not to damage the existing structure and materializing the new slabs with ceramic filler blocks and concrete pre-manufactured beams.

Due to the dimensions of the area (6.45m x 18m); to organize the general distribution we have grouped the service spaces and the vertical flow of the common wall , leaving free space in the facade. The bedrooms arrangement is defined by the inner rhythm of the ceiling (beams and ceramic filler blocks). The common space is defined by three slabs, one single open space looking for a visual relationship in height with the outside and the different areas of the housing. All coming together through the chimney, main element centered in the space.

The nature of the interiors wants to evoke the comfort of the local architecture looking for the warmth of the ceramic ceilings and floors (horizontal planes) contrasting with the white walls. In the exterior, the Corten steel allows us to create filters and external wall coverings, controlling privacy and access to the interior.

El proyecto surge de la necesidad de aumentar considerablemente la superficie de una casa situada en el barrio pescador de Blanes (Costa Brava) construida el año 1990. Un edificio existente que esta delimitado por un tejido urbano densificado, donde la fachada norte es una medianera Y la fachada sur esta relacionada con una escalera pública (actualmente utilizada como salida de emergencia). La fachada este es la que recibe el acceso a la vivienda por la calle Forn de Calç. En el caso de la fachada oeste, se relaciona a través del patio interior, que está acotado por la propia fachada y una pared de roca natural de cuarzo invadida de arbustos.

El tiempo y el uso es una demanda del proyecto: el edificio ha de absorber diferentes usos. En la primera planta, nivel que podemos acceder a través de la escalera pública, está proyectada para poder desarrollar múltiples actividades , desde un espacio polivalente para el ocio, a una segunda vivienda o la posibilidad de alquilarlo como espacio de oficina.

En la planta baja situamos el acceso principal y el garaje habilitando un pequeño espacio de taller y almacenamiento. En los niveles superiores ubicamos el resto de la vivienda; los dormitorios y espacios mas íntimos se establecen en la segunda planta buscando privacidad mientras que los espacios comunes o de día se encuentran en la planta tercera y cuarta buscando luz y relación con el exterior.

Dado que la vivienda original parte de una construcción de planta baja mas uno, aprovecharemos los forjados existentes y creceremos hasta tres niveles por encima, realizando una reforma-ampliación. Para crecer en altura subiremos con una estructura metálica atravesando los forjados existentes para no dañar la estructura existente y materializando los nuevos forjados con bovedilla cerámica y bigas prefabricadas de hormigón.

Debido a la dimensión del ámbito (6.45m x 18m) ,para organizar la distribución general agrupamos los espacios de servicio y circulación vertical en la medianera, dejando espacio libre en fachada. La organización de los dormitorios se define a partir del ritmo establecido por el propio techo (bigas y bovedillas). El espacio común o de día está definido por tres forjados; un único espacio abierto buscando una relación visual en altura tanto de los diferentes ámbitos como del exterior, relacionándose a través de la chimenea que se sitúa como elemento central del espacio.

La materialidad del interior quiere evocar al confort de la arquitectura local buscando la calidez de la cerámica en los techos y suelos (planos horizontales) contrastando con el blanco de las paredes. En el exterior, el corten nos permite generar filtros y cerramientos, controlando la privacidad y acceso al interior.
