PALAZZO CHIAPPONI | PAT.

PAT. has applied concepts developed through a straw of award winning competition entries to the refurbishment, fitting and furnishing of a 300 m2 flat in a XVII sec. listed building in Piacenza.
The historical shell of the building -its walls and painted vaulted roofs- have been restored, and a new continuous resilient floor unifies the space defined by a neutral cream tone. The new functional elements are defined by a striking contrast in the use of materials, which underlines the stratification of interventions allowing to intuitively discern the old from the new. Where needed, we introduced new mezzanines in exposed steel beams and metal decks without altering the readability of the original spaces, while other servant spaces -as the leather clad bathrooms- are contained in pods and treated as pieces of furniture rather than new rooms.

Un grande appartamento di quasi 300 mq in un aulico palazzo del Seicento nel centro storico di Piacenza è l'occasione per realizzare, su scala ridotta, alcuni concetti che avevamo portato all’estremo nel progetto secondo classificato per il nuovo centro civico di San Cristoforo Sud a Catania. I volumi realizzati ex novo, come il bagno nella camera dei genitori, sono volutamente dichiarati come aggiunte: invece di cercare un mimetismo con l’organismo architettonico esistente, sono stati realizzati e presentati come “pod” indipendenti.
Nuovi pavimenti chiari in seminato veneziano legano la sequenza degli alti saloni affrescati, che abbiamo restaurato.
Un nuovo impianto di riscaldamento radiante a pavimento evita caloriferi e offre performance termica ottimale. Nelle camere, per sfruttare la grande altezza, si inseriscono nuovi soppalchi in acciaio e lamiera grecata a vista, posizionati in modo da non spezzare le finestre né alterare la lettura dello spazio originale.
