The overall purpose with the reconstruction of the boat house at isle Hudøy has been to create a new and inspiring place for the youth at their summer camp. It sets to offer both overnight stop and a social arena interacting with others in a more intimate and warmer atmosphere than the existing one.

The old boat house belongs to Hudøy Feriekoloni, a non-profit organization owned by the municipality of Oslo and run by the Church City Mission in Norway (Kirkens Bymisjon). The organization arranges camps for youth and the cabin at Hudøy is one of the buildings used for these camps.
