The bi-partite architectural form seeks to accommodate the brief within this rather generous former semi-detached land plot of 19m width, while balancing the proportion of the built and landscape areas, which include a lap pool and a gold parting green as requested by the client. Although the front of the carporch is rather austere, immediately upon entry, one would be greeted with a fully timber clad entrance foyer complete with a piece of solid Suar wood bench. This warm teak timber accent is repeated throughout the house to tie the various spatial elements together and eventually emerge on the southwestern façade as screen cladding.

The use of black metal wall tiles on the northwestern facing façade functions like roof tiles, allowing the façade to weather well in the local harsh climate with minimized streaking and algae issues. The distinctly metal finished pitched volume added extra internal spatial height to the heart of the house where the family gathers daily, and allows more daylight to enter the space via the fully glazed façade, while the same volume finished in timber internally, a reversal of the internal and external materiality created a heightened contrast.
