attic renovation in Verona Verona / Italy / 2011
14
The request of the young client was to create a dynamic space with a bedroom, a bathroom and a kitchen, as
well as space-closet and a small outdoor area. The budget was not high relative to the conditions of the building.
The renovated penthouse is in a 1960s building, not habitable, and it was completely devoid of finishes, electrical
and plumbing.
The entire apartment is characterized by the presence of a single space divider, doubling as a selving unit as an
access point to other areas of the house.
This divider provides access to the entrance, which serves as a hall-closet, a bedroom, a corridor, a bathroom
and a living area with a kitchenette. This piece is accessible from both sides and can be modified, according to
the functional requirements. The upper portion of it hosts the ducts of the electrical and heating systems.
The living area is characterized by a triple sunlight exposure and by a large skylight window. On either side of the
dormer window there is a small storage room, two small bookcases and a hidden split air conditioning. In front
of the garret there is a small terrace overlooking the Adige river, from which a metal staircase leads to a covered,
placed opposite the flat roof of the dormer window.
