Aladaf's stud farm / Haras Aladaf | Gianpaolo Granato

The stud farm is located on a gentle sloped terrain near the city of Tatuí in the State of Sao Paulo, Brazil. The set comprehends the main house, the workers' house, two stables (totaling eight stalls), training ring, loading dock, a barn and a house for guests.
The main house, where the owners stay, is divided into two blocks - one social, the other private - and has no corridors. The social block is formed by a built-in kitchen and living room, a toilet and a laundry. The private block comprehends three suites and is divided by small courtyards that define the entrance to the bedrooms. The two blocks are connected by a large terrace overlooking the entire plot, there is an open-air stove and a small pool for relaxation. Integrating private and social blocks by a large terrace was aimed to enrich the living areas.
Important details where designed to ensure energy efficiency and environmental comfort in the main house. As an example the house is elevated 80cm above ground level, this allows the exchange of heat with the upper flooring reducing the need for air conditioning and providing natural comfort. On top of the social block skylights (three openings on the flat roof that allow for natural ventilation and daylight) with openings facing south allow for diffused light to illuminate the environment. Over the skylights, facing north, solar panels for water heating were installed. In the private block, the windows facing the large terrace are close to the deck level and hidden by wooden slats that filter natural daylight, allowing the rooms to be illuminated but preserving their privacy.
The other constructions, work related, were designed with simpler materials but they enjoy the same features that form the architectural set.

O haras localiza-se em um terreno pouco acidentado, na cidade de Tatuí, no estado de São Paulo. A implantação compreende a casa sede, casa de caseiro, duas cocheiras que somam 8 baias, redondel, embarcadouro, celeiro e casa para hóspedes.
A sede, casa onde ficam os proprietários, é dividida em dois blocos – um social, outro privativo – e não possui corredores. O bloco social é formado por sala e cozinha integradas, um lavabo e uma lavanderia. O bloco privativo possui 3 suítes e é dividido por pequenos pátios que definem o acesso a esses dormitórios. Os dois blocos são conectados por um grande terraço com vista para todo o terreno, possui um fogareiro e uma pequena piscina para relaxamento. A proposta ao integrar o bloco social e privativo por um grande terraço é valorizar as áreas de convívio.
Detalhes importantes foram pensados para garantir eficiência energética e conforto ambiental a sede. Como exemplo, a casa é elevada até 80 cm do nível do solo, isso permite a troca de calor com o pavimento superior e o resultado é uma casa mais confortável e que reduz a necessidade de condicionamento de ar. Sobre o bloco social, lanternins (aberturas na cobertura que possibilitam ventilação natural e entrada de luz zenital) com as aberturas voltadas para o sul permitem que uma luz difusa ilumine o ambiente. E, sobre os lanternins e voltados para o norte, a utilização de painéis solares para aquecimento de água. No bloco privativo, as janelas voltadas para o grande terraço estão próximas ao nível do chão e cobertas por um ripamento de madeira que filtra a luz natural, permitindo que os ambientes possam aproveitar a iluminação externa durante o dia e, ainda, preservar a privacidade dos mesmos.
As demais edificações, voltadas para o trabalho, foram projetadas com materiais mais simples mas contemplam das mesmas características que formam o conjunto arquitetônico.
