House For 4 | Arman Safavi
Lavasan / Iran / 2015
House for 4 represents a modern minimalist environment focused on materiality and detailing within a green environment.
A house designed for a young family, Amir and Marjan, a photographer and a writer, and their two sons in their mid twenties. Client's goal is to move 30 minutes drive away from the capital and gradually transition to work from home.
Everything flows from the floor plan. It extends sightlines, captures light and locates focal points and feature walls. By a careful study of occupants movement patterns through space, the floor plan brings all interior elements into alignment. Each space acts as a prelude to the next and all the spaces attempt to engage the outdoors, manifested most in the dining, open-plan kitchen/breakfast area as the hub.
A restrained, two-tone palette is applied to the inside shell of the home, with white walls, polished concrete floors and black-and-white custom millwork. The cabinetry forms a seamless interface of detailed design and functionality.
