The architecture of the Contemporary Art Museum must be unique and '>http://remarkable.The'> site of the project next to the “Women’s Bridge”, provoked us to create a building that reminds fluid, which wraps the functional structure of the museum. The museum is covered by a double skin facade made of bronze transparent fabric. This shell provides shade without obstructing the view of the surrounding environment. The mesh provides not only shade. It allows free air circulation, which is important to the natural ventilation of the building. We install photovoltaic panels integrated in the roof that power the lighting of the facade during the night. We put the entrance of the museum on the north end of the place, because there is a crossroad between the seaside promenade, the street and the pedestrian flu from the bridge. At this place we propose an open space square that attracts the public. This space is projected for the open-air exhibition for oversize sculptures and installations. The main entrance directs to the Lobby. There is an escalator and elevator from the lobby to the upper levels. The Auditorium and the Multifunctional hall are on the Ground level. The Cafeteria is on the same level with a direct link to the seaside promenade. The storage and the loading of the museum are in the southwest corner of the Ground floor. Due to the great floor height of 6.80 meters, floor space above the restrooms on each floor is designed for the plant rooms. At the intermediate level between the ground floor and the first floor above the Cafeteria is located the museum Administration. The second passenger elevator, freight elevator, emergency staircase and restrooms are in the southern part of the building. Freight elevator services intermediate levels of the building. Gallery 02 and Gallery 04 are planned on the First floor. The Gallery 04 is with ceiling space of 12 meters, and the space is free of columns. On the Second floor is the Gallery 03. Gallery 01 is designed at the Top floor. The terrace next to it is designed for outdoor exhibitions and for recreation. The concept of this building is for open space building. Our intention is to create an open building and to invite the visitors into the museum. There is a contradiction between our intention and the condition for controlled access of the museum. We solved this contradiction by making the museum of glass. Another challenge is how to insert such a big program into the structure of surrounding four story residential buildings with the respect of the town silhouette. We have made a box and we have curved the ends of the box to create the impression for the smaller shape. Te shape is taller to the entrance and it is lower to the other end. We choose the transparent glass and the bronze color for the building of the museum. The glass fades away and disappears during the day and the bronze color corresponds to the color of the water next to the building. The shimmering shell changes its color according to the sunshine. During the night both the glass and the shell are illuminated.
