Stryker is the global leader in the orthopaedic market and is one of the mayor health product companies. It offers a wide range of innovative medical technology, including joint prostheses, trauma, spine, micro implants, orthobiologic products, surgical motors, surgical navigation systems, endoscopic products and equipment specifically for emergencies and to facilitate the transfer of patients. Its products and services are present in more than 100 countries with the aim to help people lead a more active and satisfactory life. This very same purpose has been incorporated into the creation of the new Head Quarters in Newbury in the United Kingdom. The new building will be the flagship of Stryker Corporation and for this we have sought, using the architecture studio ESA Architects, to go beyond a standard construction, with a much studied interior distribution and design. A great agora is the central piece from which are distributed the floors and environments such as the café, work groups, departments and office positions. The building also works well as a major industrial centre. Actiu furniture has equipped the operative positions, with the Cool R200 desks, without frames and legs which are anchored directly to the work surface which enables greater flexibility and multiple configurations. The desks have been completed with a system of Split dividers combined, as needed, in a simple panel or modesty skirt and all upholstered in pistachio green. The colours mark the distribution and functionality of spaces. Red for the open, traffic, waiting, rest and leisure areas and green for the operative environments. The café area, spacious and Light, is equipped with Plek tables. A highly functional and versatile product highly recommended for transit areas and an influx of people, such as public canteens or training. The white desks maintain the colour line of the environment, while the red MIT chairs, are responsible for defining the functionality of the space. Classified as a universal chair, MIT reinvents a new style of chair with the ability to integrate itself daringly into any current space. Slim and simple lines characterise this program manufactured in only one piece where the housing, made of flexible foam, provides comfort ability and performance to its users.
