LA VECCHIA TABACCHERIA | Flore & Venezia architects

The restoration project of the “Vecchia Tabaccheria” (Old Tobacco shop) managed by Flore&Venezia firm brings to life the old farmhouse in the Ostuni countryside. It dating from the 18th century and has been to continuous reshuffle until the ‘50s of the last century.
Today, the “Old Tobacco shop” is a Bed & Breakfast.

The recovery project deals with the complexity of the structure, the new needs and new demands of customers. The measures aimed to adapt the internal and external spaces to new needs in accordance with traditional architecture.

The measures:
redistribution of the external and internal spaces;
creation of new services;
improvement of the internal paths with the opening of the internal passages;
consolidation of the wall structure and subsequent surface cleaning the stone vaults;
new details drawing;
demolition the non-original walls.

The end result is a balance and clean space and the traditional stone vaults are made visible.

The building has two levels: on the ground level there are the living room, kitchen, all rooms of Bed & Breakfast and the common spaces, on the upper level are the costomer’s home.
The materials used in their construction are wood, local stone and white lime.

Il progetto di recupero di un antico casale immerso nelle campagne di Ostuni ha riguardato una struttura che a partire dalla fine del 1800 e fino agli anni 50 del secolo scorso ha subito rimaneggiamenti, aggiunte e modifiche che ne avevano fortemente compromesso il valore. L'intervento partito dal consolidamento delle strutture fino al disegno dei dettagli ha cercato di ripristinare la integrità della struttura originaria e di integrare al meglio le parti le parti successive. Oggi la struttura con una nuova distribuzione degli ambienti è diventata un piccolo b&b con tre camere affascinanti e una zona living e cucina molto accoglienti
