La Strega Bar

The intervention acts on a new specialization of the bar “La Straga”, identifying a concatenation of partial spaces act to define the different fruitional functions stated by the client. The visual identity of the bar acquires a pragmatic dimension, suggested by an immediate cognitive dimension: the use of the three sections of the bar, desk, stand-up and dining proposes the spatial languages different for size, use and location, maintaining due to the chosen material, wood, a communal identifying sign. The choice of reclaimed wood, recycled out of 70 pallets, lend an empathic and emotional feeling, alternative from the industrial production code, and it highlights the man-crafted quality of the products for sale, by emphasizing the declared and indispensable dexterity for the realization of the space. Chairs converse in a chromatic way with the green pantone of the wall, emphasizing further the separation created with the vertical elements of the “ribs”.

The ribs

The perception of the bar is scanned by functional bands that, as ribs, embrace the space shaping an optical cone, further emphasized by the bending of the ribs that on the sealing forms light compartments , that visually pulls the users at the most ample part of the space. Ribs defines equipped (and that can be further more equipped ) parts of the walls. Thoughts to be customizable responding to the different customers needs the ribs are composed by “slats” following one other, with a distance between them fixed at 19mm; so the ribs becomes equipped with elements that can be inserted in the fissures as trays, exposition shelves coat hanger etc. Tables closes the bottom part of the ribs in a philological continuity, representing their fallout covered by a specific kind of MDF (Medium-density fibreboard), a wood derived material, for a global sustainability of the project. This naturally colored wood has also been used for all the shelves and for upholstering the existing counter.

The slats

The slats are a statement of the local commerce; they derives from recycled pallets and represent a material that spread brilliance and warmth and are used it with a declared nordic influence. Slats have been carved and worked by hand to conserve the history that brought them to a second life; they have a fixed width (55 cm is the with of the ribs) but different heights, depending on the height of the original boards. The distance between the slats becomes the key element of the project, defining the space in a flexible way, are declinable in spot lightning, could be transformed in support for everything that becomes furniture, fixed or movable.

The project is a tribute to the territory that represents, with the symmetry of the lines, the light and a researched “workshop” realization, the same spirit of the excellence artisan edibles of the context. The challenge of the linear disposition of the slats that partly quote the geometrical sign of the small traditional ham-factories windows maintaining the the proportions but assigning them new meanings. Lastly the use of recycled materials follow the line of a territory that associate to the maintaining of their's own excellences (appreciated worldwide) a method aware of the environment.

L’intervento agisce su una nuova spazializzazione del locale la Strega,che,lasciando immutata la parte architettonica, individua una concatenazione di spazi parziali, atti a definire le diverse funzioni di fruizione indicate dalla committenza. L’identità visiva del locale acquisisce una dimensione pragmatica, suggerita da una dimensione cognitiva immediata: l’uso delle tre sezioni del locale, desk, stand-up, dining, propone tre linguaggi spaziali differenti per misure, uso ed ambientazione, mantenendo un segno comune di identificazione nel materiale scelto,il legno. La scelta del legno di recupero da pallet, conferisce un senso empatico ed emozionale, alternativo al codice di produzione industriale, e sottolinea, enfatizzando la dichiarata ed obbligatoria manualità per la creazione dello spazio, la scelta di qualità artigianale dei prodotti serviti nel locale. Le sedie dialogano in cromia con il pantone verde in parete, evidenziando ulteriormente il distacco creato dall’ elemento verticale delle doghe.

Le costole

La Percezione del locale è scandita, nell’intenzione del recupero della profondità, da nastri funzionali, che come costole circuiscono lo spazio formando un cono ottico, ulteriormente enfatizzato da movimenti dei nastri stessi che sul soffitto formano i vani luce, spingendo visivamente i fruitori del locale verso la zona più ampia Le costole definiscono porzioni di pareti attrezzate ed ulteriormente attrezzabili. Pensate affinché siano customizzabili a seconda delle necessità del locale,le costole sono composte dal susseguirsi di doghe, fissate ad una distanza di 19mm. La parete diventa quindi attrezzabile con elementi che si possano inserire in queste fughe, quali vassoi, mensole d’esposizione, appendiabiti etc. I Tavoli che con una continuità filologica chiudono nella parte più bassa le costole, rappresentando la loro appendici a terra rivestiti di Valchromat un derivato del legno, per una globale sostenibilità del progetto.

Le doghe

Le doghe sono la testimonianza del commercio locale; sono infatti derivate da pallet di recupero e rappresentano il materiale che trasmette senso di luminosità e calore, utilizzato in un progetto, come questo, dalla chiara e ricercata influenza scandinava. Le doghe sono state tagliate e trattate a mano in modo da conservare i segni del tempo e della storia che li ha portati ad una seconda vita; di larghezza fissa (55 cm è la larghezza di ogni costola) hanno altezza diverse, segno del natura viva del materiale. La distanza che intercorre tra una doga e l’altra, diventa quindi l’elemento chiave del progetto: definiscono lo spazio in modo flessibile, ma rigorosamente simmetrico, sono declinabili in diversi punti luce, possono trasformandosi in supporto per tutto ciò che è arredamento, fisso o mobile, del locale.

Un tributo al territorio, dove per estensione, si rappresenti con la simmetria delle linee, la luce e la volontaria impostazione di realizzazione da “ laboratorio”, lo stesso spirito presente nella lavorazione dell’artigianato delle eccellenze alimentari del territorio.
La sfida della disposizione lineare delle doghe, part richiama il segno dalle geometrie verticali delle finestre dei prosciuttifici, mantenendone l’intenzione e la rappresentazione geometrica, ma riferendogli nuovi significati. In ultimo,l’uso del materiale di riciclo, segue la linea di un territorio che al mantenimento delle proprie eccellenze riconosciute ormai a livello mondiale, associa un metodo giusto e consapevole dell’ambiente.
