CCCPP - Centro per le Culture Contemporanee a porta Portese - L'area oggetto di studio è situata in prossimità del centro storico di Roma delimitata dalle Mura Gianicolensi con Porta Portese, da cui il nome del famoso mercato, via delle Mura Portuensi e via Portuense. E' per buona parte occupata da un deposito di autobus, manufatto di archeologia industriale, e dalla sua recinzione continua che ne impedisce l'attraversamento e la fruizione, da un'area di interesse archeologico e dall'autoparco dei Vigili Urbani, la cui struttura era un hangar della seconda guerra mondiale che Hitler regalò a Mussolini per il suo idrovolante. L'area, rientra all'interno di un più ampio progetto di intervento del Comune di Roma che prevede in tutta la zona compresa fra via Portuense, via di Porta Portese, il porto di Ripa Grande e il basamento dell'Aventino un lavoro di valorizzazione pedonale e ambientale. Si cerca il dialogo con il paesaggio circostante senza prevalicazioni, eliminando i recinti esistenti che impediscono l'attraversamento, e cercando il confronto con l'esistente ma senza soluzioni mimetiche: l'utilizzo di nuovi materiali come le pannellature forate in acciaio cor-ten funziona da perfetto legame tra passato presente e futuro - il colore ruggine sottende un legame con le preesistenze storiche così come la forma bugnata a punta di diamante dei pannelli si relaziona alle fortificazioni -. Dell'hangar, che viene riconvertito in centro culturale, si conservano i caratteri originari, cioè la struttura viene lasciata completamente a vista mentre i pannelli all'interno sono rivestiti di policarbonato bianco traslucido retroilluminato. Di notte la superficie dell'hangar diventa diffusore di luce artificiale come una lampada. Al'interno dello spazio coperto/aperto sono posizionati i containers e gli altri volumi per le diverse attività collegati tra loro da passerelle pedonali e terrazze con la possibilità di essere utilizzati insieme o separatamente. La proposta progettuale di riqualificazione prevede il recupero e la rifunzionalizzazione dell'autoparco dei Vigili Urbani a Centro per le Culture Contemporanee a porta Portese - CCCPP, la costruzione di residenze temporanee per artisti e operatori culturali, e la risistemazione degli spazi aperti fino al fiume Tevere. Una gamma di offerte ricreative come lo skate park, il climbing wall, il graffiti wall, l'area gioco per i bambini, il prato, e il grande spazio per gli spettacoli all'aperto permette ai residenti locali di incontrarsi attraverso l'attività fisica e giochi. La pavimentazione continua della piazza è 100% permeabile e sostenibile dal punto di vista ambientale, con l'utilizzo di uno speciale calcestruzzo drenante che ricicla le acque piovane. Completa il progetto una "passeggiata pedonale" sulle mura storiche che collega viale Trastevere fino al fiume e il bike-sharing con la ciclofficina. eng The site of the project is located near the historic centre of Rome and is bounded by the part of the ancient Aurelian walls known as the Mura Gianicolensi, the famous flea market Porta Portese, and the two roads via delle Mura Portuensi and via Portuense. Most of the area is taken up by a bus depot, a feature of industrial archaeology, with an uninterrupted perimeter wall that means it cannot be traversed or used, as well as an area of archaeological interest and the parking area of the Roman Municipal Police, which was originally a hangar that Hitler gave to Mussolini for his hydroplane during World War II. The area falls within a wider project of intervention of the City of Rome, which intends to improve the pedestrian access and environmental conditions of the entire area between via Portuense, via di Porta Portese, the river-port of Ripa Grande and the base of the Aventine hill. A dialogue with the surrounding landscape without prevarications is sought by eliminating the existing walls and fences that prevent access, and by considering the surrounding urban enviroment but without camouflaged solutions: the use of new materials such as perforated panels of cor-ten steel creates a perfect bond between past, present and future – with the rust colour establishing a link with the historical past, in much the same way that the diamond tip shape of the panels relates to the fortifications .The original characteristics of the hangar, which is converted into a cultural centre, are retained. Thus the structure is left fully exposed to the view, while the inside panels are covered with translucent white backlit polycarbonate. At night the surface of the hangar diffuses artificial light like a lamp. Inside the covered outdoor space, containers and other volumes are placed, to allow various activities to take place, are connected by pedestrian walkways and terraces that can be used either together or separately. The ‘designed’ does not forcibly create a sense of order, nor does it try to dictate conditions to the ‘user’. Instead, the design is mostly ‘open-ended’. It is sheltered from the negative effects of the elements, rain, sun and wind, but it is not transformed into an interior space because of its semi-transparent nature. Air circulates freely in this area. The proposal also involves changing the function of the parking area of the traffic police to a Centre for Contemporary Cultures (Centro per le Culture Contemporanee a Porta Portese - CCCPP), temporary housing/ateliers for artists and cultural workers, and restoring the open spaces that reach as far as the river Tiber. A range of recreational facilities such as a skate park, a climbing wall, a graffiti wall, a play area for children, a lawn, and a large space for outdoor performances allow local residents to aggregate and meet through physical activities and games. The continuous paving of the square is 100% permeable and environmentally sustainable, with the use of a special pervious concrete that drains and recycles rainwater. The project is completed by a "pedestrian walkway" along the historic walls that connect viale Trastevere to the river, as well as by a bike-sharing facility arranged with a bicycle workshop.
