INTRODUCTION. THE SITE The site, with an initial area of 700 000 square meters was born in 1950 , is caught between the mouth of the river Esino NW , NE with the sea , with the suburbs of Falconara Marittima SE and ending with the Bologna - Ancona railway , State Road 16 and the International Airport "Raffaello Sanzio" Ancona - Falconara SW . The IDEA The idea is to pass on , without erasing the signs that man in the leaves , where it is located , driven by the need of various types that are often in conflict with each other , so in contrast , it excludes the total demolition of the site industrial . The project proposal is to recover and of his conversion. PREMESSA. Da molti anni l’ingresso alla strada statale adriatica 16 direzione nord, all’altezza di Falconara Marittima (AN), ci mostra un emblematico quanto meno controverso skyline, di giorno la chiarezza concreta dell’impianto di raffinazione API n. 657, di notte un brillante gioco di luci che splendono nella notte riportando nel nostro immaginario una fantomatica metropoli del XXI secolo; il luogo risulta nello stesso tempo, sicuramente discusso, ma anche attraente, seppur in minor misura. Dalla parte del mare il rapporto drammatico appare ancora più evidente. IL SITO Il sito, con una superficie iniziale di 700 000 mq nato nel 1950, è incastrato tra la foce del fiume Esino a NO, con il mare a NE, con la periferia urbana di Falconara Marittima a SE e per finire con la ferrovia Ancona-Bologna, la strada statale 16 e l’aeroporto internazionale "Raffaello Sanzio” Falconara-Ancona a SO. L’IDEA L’idea è quella di tramandare, senza cancellare, i segni che l’uomo lascia nell’ambiente, che lo ospita, spinto da necessità di vario tipo che spesso sono in conflitto tra loro; pertanto in controtendenza è esclusa la demolizione totale del sito industriale. La proposta progettuale è quella del recupero e della sua conversione. Il design tipico dell’impianto, destinato ad essere percorso dal greggio, torna ad essere percorrenza ed allo stesso tempo posto di osservazione inedito, unico nel suo genere utilizzato come nuova interpretazione del sito industriale. A rendere il nuovo sistema oggetto di riflessione, vengono introdotte essenze vegetali tali da sottolineare il rapporto contrastante e spesso conflittuoso tra natura e macchina; alle essenze vegetali viene ora data libertà di riconquistare il proprio spazio. Così come è concepita l’idea, le sezioni delle tubazioni e dei silos in acciaio sono insufficienti a soddisfare le nuove condizioni di esercizio, quindi vengono rinforzate in maniera adeguata.
