A competition entry for an internal courtyard space of the royal college of music and drama in Cardiff. The brief was for the design of a temporary theatre to be built sustainably considering clever fabrication and material choices. It is intended to sit an audience of 150 people. The design is intentionally simple for ease of assembly and is comprised of a structural scaffold frame with an internal lining of printed curtain fabric and an outer weather proof, plastic membrane. The seating is also constructed from a scaffold frame and scaffold boards. The inner curtain fabric is printed with depictions of forest scenery which injects the courtyard space of the university building with natural colours that reflect the lush green landscape of the local environment.
