OFFICE BUILDING - BULGARIA ENGINEERING | SHAPE CONCEPT
Sofia / Bulgaria / 2013
1
The office building is located in the southeast of the city area of Sofia called ‘American college’. The main concept of the project is consistent with the function and the natural conditions of the terrain (elevations, orientation, green vegetation and car approaches). The offices are oriented to the north, resulting in diffuse natural lighting and a good working environment. There are designed sunscreen wooden panels, further supporting the achievement of the optimum working climate in the building. Main road and pedestrian access are both starting from the north by car and foot-bridge. A second approach that separates the management of employees and customers is available from south. The building is divided functionally into two parts (main in west and service in east). These two volumes are connected with the communication kernel, which will be filled entirely with glass. This contributes to the visual connection between the two approaches north - south. The glass part serves as the buildings’ natural air conditioning. The architectural design of all elements is interrelated. The facades are composed of solid parts and openings. The segmentation of the facades is dictated by the trend toward maximizing the most favorable directions. The materials provided in the project are raw concrete, glass, plaster and wood. The project aims at creating a building with a contemporary vision, maximum favorable working environment and energy efficiency in exploitation.
