Piergiorgio Cazzaniga is one of Italy’s most internationally-renowned designers. Born in 1946, he gained a diploma at “ISPMA” in Lissone. Whilst still a student, he designed the “Ente del Mobile di Lissone” and “Associazione Invalidi del Lavoro di Lissone” offices and the wooden, modular “Alba d’Oro” for IPSMA. His career has led him to accumulate direct, intense experience of all matters related to industrial furniture manufacturing. In the 1960s, Dino Boffi appointed him as Research and Development Department Manager at BOFFI Cucine. Whilst holding this post, he took part in the European process for the standardization of Module and Kitchen Appliance sizes. In 1971, he created the Bruttura, Massoni, Pellizza studio together with Luigi Massoni. The studio would later become known as “A&D”. In the 1990s, he established his own studio, “Piergiorgio Cazzaniga design”, in Lentate sul Seveso (Lombardy), since which time he has worked with the leading furniture design companies. His innovative creations have merited numerous awards, including the MARIPOSA chair("Chair of the Year” at Udine and winner of the "Jury Award" at BIO 15 in Ljubljana, 1995); the Bloom armchair, the M1 chair and the Lofty seat collection (selected for the 2001 and 2004 I-Dot Awards); the “Lips” chair (awarded the "Good Design Award" by the Chicago Athenaeum of Design). More recently, the “BORA BORA” sofa system was nominated for the 2008 Interior Innovation Award in Cologne. He has maintained a close working relationship with Andreu World for some years now. The resulting designs have been met by a highly positive acceptance. These include Reverse, a 100% recyclable polyethylene base of sculptural, proportioned form, allowing great freedom and different sizes of table top, up to the largest dimensions.
