Morten Emil Engel
Morten Emil Engel was born in Copenhagen in 1979. He has lived across Asia, Africa the US and several places in Europe.

He studied architecture at The Bartlett School of Architecture in London from 2002 to 2005 and The Royal Danish Academy in Copenhagen where he graduated in 2008.

Morten has a wealth of experience, having worked at several acclaimed architecture offices and as Head of 1:1 at Cobe architects for 12 years before setting up his own practice in 2021.

He has completed a diverse range of public and private buildings in Denmark and around the world, including notable projects such as Israels Plads, Designmuseum Danmark, the Opera Park, and Le Bicolore at Maison du Danemark in Paris.

Morten's work is characterised by a strong focus on materials, aesthetics, and sustainability through low-carbon, natural, and bio-based materials. He also has an interest in building technology and unique architectural detailing.

Morten's approach to architecture is holistic, seeking to create thought-provoking expressions through the fusion of concept, detailing, materials, natural and artificial lighting. He sees the shift towards low embodied carbon materials as an opportunity to revitalise the expression of beauty in architecture, embracing natural faults and imperfections as an added richness.

Morten is currently appointed as external lecturer, censor and examiner at The Royal Danish Academy.
