Massimo Ballardin was born in Thiene in 1965, from an early age passionate about art, especially glass, a passion inherited from his father, a glass craftsman. In addition to glass, he became passionate about painting, in fact, after graduating from applied art in Nove in ceramics, he continued his studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Venice, graduating in painting. The teaching experience is enriched with glass fusing and lighting courses at the Abate Zanetti school in Murano and workshops in artists / designers' laboratories. There are many materials interested in his artistic research, but glass becomes fundamental for his artistic career. The first visual graphic research takes place on the smooth surface of the glass, with a personal elaboration of the sandblasting technique and a contamination of techniques such as stratification between glass, lacquering, silvering. Subsequently, the research moves on the three-dimensionality and on the expressive potential of the glass material with glass fusing. He collaborates with architects and interior designers, wood, iron and glass artisan companies to create furnishing solutions for hotels, shops, private homes. He has participated in past editions of The Venice Glass Week with the projects "In Vitro" and "Tras-forma", an international exhibition on the enhancement of artistic Murano glass. His being determined has allowed him to realize his dream, that is the ability to give shape to the glass itself, with always different lines, textures, shapes and colors, but above all to insert a feeling, a soul and an expression into these shapes. . The goal of his research is to create unique pieces, giving the user the opportunity to interact subjectively with the work. Thus creating a personal bond both visual and tactile, amazement and wonder in anyone who observes the glassy material. Creating works that speak to people, in addition to everything, in addition to design, in addition to craftsmanship, in addition to art, in addition to appearances.
