Magdalena Recordon was born in Valdivia, Chile. She spent her childhood in La Union drawing among the multiple tissues and wool compositions made by her knitting artist mother. She is a graphic designer graduated from the School of Architecture and Design PUCV in Valparaiso. After five years working in Santiago, she leaves to Paris to accomplish a New Media Master Degree at the École Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle (ENSCI/Les Ateliers), which she obtains in 2003.
